Welcome to the artwork of Dick Bobnick, one of America's finest traditional illustrators and portrait artists. Dick's impeccable draftsmanship and realism, attention to detail, his uncanny ability to capture the "look" of celebrities, his versatility in creating dramatic montages, glamourous figures, action, adventure and sports illustrations keep his work in demand by regional and national advertsing agencies, corporations, public relations firms and publishers. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dick began drawing at the age of four inspired by his artistic father, Frank, and his his love for producing artwork continues to this day. His first award was at the age of eight with a colored pencil drawing submitted to the national radio show, "Juvenile Jury". His first "show" was at the age of ten with an exhibit of celebrity portraits at the St. Paul Public Library. Some years later he cartooned and illustrated for his high school newspaper and yearbook. Later, at the University of Minnesota, where he earned his Bachelor Of Fine Arts Degree, he illustrated and art edited the Engineering School's monthly magazine, the TECHNOLOG. Upon graduation, with an impressive portfolio already prepared, Dick was hired for his first studio job.

After twenty five years as lead illustrator at several Minneapolis graphic arts studios Dick wanted to pursue national clients, paint his favorite subject matters, develop his personal style and in 1990 decided to go on his own to freelance.

Throughout his career Dick has been the recipient of many local, regional and national art director's and illustration awards. In 2006 Dick won two Silver medal awards and three Bronze medal awards in several national and international art competitions. He also was a winner in the Society Of Illustrators Of Los Angeles (SILA) 2006 competition. This year, 2007, Dick won two Gold Awards in the Advertising Illustration categories in the national CREATE 2007 Creative Competitions. Specifics of all these awards are detailed on Dick's official website,, in the News And Links section.

In 1999 Dick built a beautiful studio onto his Burnsville home, where he lives with his wife Hilery, and where he continues to create exciting illustrations and portraits.
